Julie Gonce
Flameworked Glass
National award - Winner of the “Ateliers d'Art de France” contest in 2014
Biography
Since 1997, my passion has been glass and glasswork.
This trade has a rich historic legacy, and I practice it with respect for its traditions and the knowledge that was entrusted to me.
The pleasure and fascination of flame and molten glass are at the heart of all of my creations.
My experience in both industry and artisanal work has taught me perseverance, the importance of quality assurance, and large production runs. This serial production allows me to take flameworking to new horizons.
I realize my sculptures by assembling a multitude of blown or spun glass elements. I love playing with accumulation in my work.
When associated through sewing to wood, earth, metal or any other material, glass illuminates a hidden dimension and expresses the emotions within my universe. Glass is at the very heart of the artwork, vibrantly showing its soul.
This technique renders the invisible visible?
The exclusive originality of my accumulations allow me to create unique sculptures that have no limit in size.
Nature is my source of inspiration, retreat, and flourishing.
